The faces you'll meet on the hill.
A members' club is its people. Here are some of the ones you'll meet — in the club office, out on the course, and in your first weeks as a member.
Peter Mattravers
SecretaryPeter runs the club office — membership, society and function enquiries, and the everyday business of keeping an eighteen-hole club on the go.
If your question is about the club, it will almost certainly reach his desk. Ring the clubhouse on 01443 409904 and ask for Peter, or email pgc.secretary@pontypriddgolfclub.com.
The greens team.
Head Greenkeeper Darren Phelps leads the team, with Tony Jay and Darren Roberts. Eighteen holes on an open hillside, four hundred feet above the town — every green, tee and fairway you play is their work, in whatever weather the Common sends.
See them out on the course? Give them a wave — and repair your pitch marks.
Tim Kelland
New Member AmbassadorWalking into a golf club for the first time can feel like turning up to a party where everyone already knows each other. Tim's job is to change that.
Introductions, someone to play with, and a way into the competitions and the social side of the club — so your first season feels like membership, not just a subscription.
Or ask the office to put you in touch with Tim: pgc.secretary@pontypriddgolfclub.com.
Run by its members.
Like most golf clubs, Pontypridd is run by its members — a committee drawn from the membership, and volunteers who give their time to the competitions, the juniors and the life of the club.
To reach the captain, the committee or anyone on this page, start with the club office: pgc.secretary@pontypriddgolfclub.com or 01443 409904.
